Nourah University holds medical career day

RIYADH — Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University (PNU), represented by its College of Medicine, launched the 10th Medical Career Day on Wednesday coinciding with the 41st Meeting of the Committee of Deans Faculties of Medicine in Saudi Arabia at the university’s conference center.

The conference targeted students of medicine and health colleges in Saudi Arabia to discuss many topics that contribute in the future of the professional career and strengthen the communication field with the needed recruiting and training institutions.

The opening ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an. On behalf of Rector Dr. Huda Bint Omar Al-Wehaibi, Dr. Ahmed Al-Ghadeer, vice rector of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, delivered a speech in which he said one of the points of excellence at Princess Nourah University is its five health colleges with outstanding output.

Furthermore, Dr. Al-Ghadeer has pointed out the major role that is played by the government to support women empowerment in all fields.

Dean of College of Medicine and Chairperson of the Conference Organizing Committee Dr. Nourah Al-Zamel explained that the purpose of the conference was to build bridges of communication between medical students and interns with different training and employment sectors in the labor market, in addition to highlighting the different medical specialties in both basic and clinical aspects. It also aimed to illustrate some important topics for students such as professionalism, medical ethics and medical law.

Dean of College of Medicine at King Abdulaziz University and the Chairman of the Committee of Deans Faculties of Medicine in Saudi Arabia Dr. Mahmoud Bin Shaheen Al-Ahwal stated that the 10th Medical Career Day Conference was considered one of the important conferences for health practitioners and graduates as it highlighted many important topics that contribute to achieving the Saudi Vision 2030 through the country’s society.

The conference was enriched by eight lectures in the field of health and medicine. — SG
