RIYADH — The Council of Ministers chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman on Tuesday emphasized that Saudi Arabia, in all its procedures, regulations and applications, takes into account all national and international standards related to human rights in order to achieve the best levels of promotion and protection of human rights.

While attending the 40th session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva recently, Saudi Arabia appreciated the Council’s role in the promotion and protection of human rights around the world. Saudi Arabia also emphasized that UNHRC’s work is to be guided by the principles of universality, neutrality, objectivity, non-selectivity, as well as constructive dialogue and international cooperation.

Minister of Media Turki Al-Shabanah said the Cabinet welcomed the decision of the United Kingdom to classify Hezbollah as a terrorist organization, stressing that the classification is an important and constructive step in counterterrorism efforts around the world.

It also emphasized that the international community should follow the example of Saudi Arabia and UK in taking a firm and united stand against terrorist militias that undermine the security and stability of the region.

The Cabinet approved memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between the governments of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in a number of vital areas including renewable energy and oil, gas and petrochemicals.

After reviewing recommendation of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs and a decision of the Shoura Council, the Cabinet approved the competition law.

The Cabinet decided to amend its earlier decision in a manner that the General Commission for Audiovisual Media, in coordination with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Civil Service, shall provide all the material, human and technical resources necessary for the National Committee for the Regulation of the Ethical Content in Information Technology.

Al-Shabanah said the Cabinet approved restructuring of the committees to settle insurance related disputes and violations in Jeddah governorate and Dammam city for a period of three years. Muhammad Al-Othman and Saleh Al-Ghamdi will head the committees in Jeddah and Dammam respectively.
