46% Saudis employed in wholesale, manufacturing and construction sectors

The wholesale, retail, manufacturing industries and construction sectors have 46 percent of the total number of male Saudi employees working in the private sector, according to an Okaz survey.

The number of male Saudi employees working in the wholesale and retail trade sectors total 434,000. There are 247,000 male and 149,000 female Saudi employees in manufacturing industries.

Saudi employees in the private sector total 1.81 million.

There are 167,000 Saudi female employees, forming 9.23 percent of the total number of Saudi workers in the economic activities.

There are 7,452 Saudi workers in the recreation and arts sector.

However, new entertainment and tourism ventures will open up thousands of jobs for Saudis.

A member of the Saudi Economic Association (SEA) has said the Red Sea Project will create 35,000 job opportunities whereas the Amaala project will create over 22,000 job opportunities.

The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) branch in Tabuk on Sunday issued licenses to the first females in the country to work as tour guides. General Manager of SCTH in Tabuk Dr. Mabrouk Al-Shilaibi handed the licenses to Hiba Mohammed Al-Aidi, Nada Saleh Al-Enezi and Hanan Hatem Al-Humaidi after their successful completion of an intensive training course.
