RIYADH – The King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) showcased five of its drones which were designed, manufactured and developed by Saudi researchers at the Saudi International Airshow held at Al-Thumama Airport in Riyadh.

The air show was the first international aviation and aerospace exhibition of its kind in the Kingdom.

The drones include Saqr 1, Saqr 2, Saqr 4, Al Nawras, and Air Survey Aircraft, designed for day and night reconnaissance and surveillance missions. These aircraft are made of carbon and glass fiber, lightweight and durable, and difficult to capture via radar and reconnaissance devices.

The state-owned Taqnia Aeronautics Co. manufactured the drones.

The air show focuses on four key areas of aviation: commercial aviation, private and public aviation, airport and supplier infrastructure, and defense and space.

The exhibition aims to increase the aviation and aerospace industry in the Kingdom and to provide an ideal platform for connecting professionals in all areas of the aerospace industry, with the participation of more than 265 international and domestic companies offering the latest in aviation technology and services.
