JEDDAH —
The personal affairs courts in various parts of the Kingdom have received as many as 9,498 inheritance lawsuits during the past one and half years, the Arabic daily Al-Watan reported quoting court sources.

A woman heir, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said she had been coming to the personal affairs court in Jeddah almost every day for the past for four years to obtain her share of a legacy.

She said the case took this long time because of the differences among the heirs about their shares.

The woman said it was in the interest of the heirs not to settle the case so as to continue benefiting financially from the legacy, which included building given on rents.

The sources said Makkah, with 2,260 inheritance cases, topped all the other regions in the number of such lawsuits followed by Riyadh, which had 1,674 cases.

The sources said there were 1,385 cases in the Eastern Province, 1,063 in Asir, 788 in Jazan, 609 in Madinah and 438 in Qassim.
