RIYADH – The Integrated Telecom Company has won the license to offer fixed telecom services with infrastructure in the Kingdom.

The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) announced on Wednesday the issuance of the license to ITC, one of the leading telecommunications service providers in the Kingdom.

Abdul Aziz Al-Ruwais, governor of CITC, said that the issuance of the license enables the company to provide fixed telecommunications services throughout the Kingdom and to participate in the broadband deployment initiative so as to increase the deployment of fixed telecommunications services to achieve the goals of the National Transformation Program

The license is aimed at improving infrastructure, increasing the spread of broadband services and efficiency of the landline sector, as well as enhancing competitiveness in the provision of fixed telecommunications services (voice and data), multiple options for users, and upgrading the ICT sector.

Dr. Ruwais said this license is the first since the decision of the Council of Ministers to amend Article 4 and 5 of the Telecommunications Law, which granted CITC the authority to issue licenses for the provision of fixed telecommunications services. --SG/SPA
