JEDDAH —
Informed sources told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that police opened an investigation into the death of an electrical technician in his 50s after his family filed a complaint.

The family accused the firm he worked for, a pesticide shop and the hospital for the death of their relative. The man died following the spraying of hazardous pesticides at the headquarters of his company.

A brother of the victim told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that the victim had worked for the company for more than 27 years as an electrical technician. He was assigned to buy chemical pesticides from the shop to disinfect the company’s headquarters. He then sprayed the substance on the company’s premises for nearly three hours.

The man showed signs of health problems on the same day and the family took him to a private hospital for treatment. He was transferred to another private hospital the following morning where died as a result of severe bleeding in the lungs.

The hospital could not determine the cause of the bleeding.

The man was buried even though the family did not know the cause of his death. They did not know he had sprayed the company premises with pesticide until his friends in the company told them on the day of the burial.

It was later revealed that the chemical the man had bought to disinfect the company could cause internal bleeding, which was the symptom the victim had suffered from. His company did not comment on this issue.

The medical report stated that the victim came to the hospital with difficulty in breathing and high fever. He was also complaining about severe pain all over his body. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and he was placed on ventilators. He died when all attempts to revive him failed.
