RIYADH —
The body Muzakar Al-Subaie, a Saudi businessman who went missing in Uganda, was found late Tuesday in the Victoria Lake.

Al-Subaie’s wife received a call on Saturday saying the businessman was missing after he slipped into the lake.

The Uganda marine forces had launched an intense search operation for the missing Saudi in the lake waters.

Ugandan authorities confirmed that Al-Subaie drowned. His body was found by local fishermen on Tuesday and was handed over to the authorities.

Manahi Al-Subaie, a cousin of Muzakar’s said, his family was hopeful that their relative would be found alive, expressing great confidence in efforts being exerted by the Saudi government to locate him.

The local police confirmed that Al-Subaie had fell into the Victoria Nile River when he was trying to take a selfie with his cell phone with the waterfalls behind him. The fast-moving water swept him away and he disappeared underwater.

Police received the body of Al-Subaie in a village located 10 kilometers away from the site of the accident. His body was found, according to them, two kilometers away from the location where he slipped last Saturday.

The Al-Subaie family had announced a financial reward for anyone who found their relative. This had motivated many villagers to join the search for the missing man. The villagers who found him received the financial reward.

Two of the victim’s relatives were present at the location where he went missing and they stayed there until they received the body, which was transferred to a local hospital.
