RIYADH —
Four terrorists were killed as the Saudi security forces foiled on Sunday an attack in Zulfi region, 270 km north of Riyadh.

A spokesman of the Presidency of State Security said in a statement that a group of terrorists attacked the station of the Bureau of Investigation.

“At 9.49 a.m., the security authorities in the Presidency confronted the attackers and that resulted in the killing of all four terrorists. The process of identifying the attackers are going on,” the spokesman said, adding that three security men sustained minor injuries in the attack.

The spokesman confirmed that the concerned security agencies are still carrying out their tasks at the site to deal with the explosive materials, and examine them.

According to reports, the attackers carried machineguns, bombs and Molotov cocktails.

In a similar incident earlier this month, two terrorists were killed and two others were injured in Qatif in the Eastern Province.

Four attackers targeted on April 7 a security checkpoint with hand grenades in Markaz Abu Hadriyadh in Qatif as they tried to flee the country, leading to the death of two and the arrest of two others.

They included three terrorists who were wanted in connection with Qatif attacks.

Last year, a member of the security forces and a Bangladeshi resident were killed in an assault on a security checkpoint in nearby Buraidah, and a policeman was killed in a separate attack in the western city of Taif.
