MWL donates $1 million to UNHCR

MAKKAH — Sheikh Mohammed Al-Issa, secretary general of the Muslim World League (MWL), announced MWL’s donation of $1 million to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in order to alleviate the suffering of people displaced by war and climate change. He made the announcement while inaugurating a conference on “Responsible leadership,” organized by MWL in New York. The conference was attended by a large number of prominent religious, political, intellectual and human rights figures from various parts of the world.

Al-Issa underscored the importance of responsible leadership in achieving any goal. He noted that MWL is keen on joining hands with the United Nations in a number of development projects aimed at improving the quality of life for the needy people around the world. The conference discussed a number of topics relating to enriching human life materially and spiritually, and how to overcome the difficulties for a better life on the planet for all nations and peoples. — SG
