DAMMAM — A number of young Saudi men and women have volunteered to distribute free iftar meals to passengers at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam since the beginning of the Ramadan fasting about two weeks ago.
The volunteer service covered the arrival and departure lounges, immigration and check-in halls and baggage claim.
The meals were distributed to both arriving and departing passengers as well as the airline staff and airport employees.
With the help of the volunteers, the Dammam Airports Company (DACO) prepares about 1,500 meal boxes daily for distribution among passengers of both domestic and international flights.
The company said the volunteers did not only distribute the meals but also participated in their preparation. It said the volunteer service would continue throughout the holy month.
