JEDDAH —
The Jamia Millia Islamia Alumni Association (Western Region and Jeddah) is collecting money to pay for the education and other expenses of some needy children studying in different schools in Saudi Arabia.

Besides an appeal was also launched to raise funds for other charitable deeds, said Muhammad Zaki, president of JMIAA (WR and Jeddah) in a statement at the conclusion of the grand iftar party hosted by the alumni at a local restaurant here recently. The event was attended by a large section of Jamiites and their families from Jeddah, Makkah, Rabigh and Yanbu. Children of Jamia alumni also had a great evening enjoying the tasty and mouth-watering dishes at the iftar and later at the dinner.

The event was also attended by prominent community members.

Zaki’s statement was endorsed by other office-bearers — Javed Alam, Afzal Nisar Khan, Dilnawaz, Dr. Intikhab Alam, Sami Rizvi and Sadiqa Tarannum.

Jamia alumni and other guests expressed their dismay at some recent incidents which have tarnished the image of the great institution. They said all attendees were of their considered view that any division among Jamiites was a blot on the face of their alma mater.

The JMIAA (WR and Jeddah) office-bearers also spoke of their untiring endeavor to forge unity among the Jamiites and said all efforts were being exerted to paper over the differences.
