ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates has welcomed Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman’s call for emergency summits of Gulf and Arab leaders in Makkah on Ramadan 25 (May 30) to discuss ways to enhance regional security and stability in the wake of the attacks on commercial vessels in UAE territorial waters and on two Saudi oil pumping stations, UAE news agency (WAM) reported.

The call for high-level meetings is reflective of the Saudi leadership’s continued determination to establish peace and security in the region, said the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in a statement on Saturday.

The statement underlined the leading role played by King Salman in “unifying Arab ranks and coordinating Arab stances.”

“The current critical circumstances entail a unified Arab and Gulf stance toward the besetting challenges and risks,” said the statement, describing the King Salman's call as a “significant opportunity for the countries of the region to achieve their aspirations for establishing peace and stability.” — WAM
