Saudi Gazette report
JEDDAH — Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance has set up a toll-free number worshippers can call to report erring imams who violate the rules while delivering Friday sermons or making speeches in the mosque.
The ministry asked the congregants to call the emergency number 1933 to pass information about the imams who they deem to be crossing the limits. It said a team of staff would be on hand round the clock to receive calls and deal with them with top confidentiality.
The ministry, on the other hand, said it employed a total of 300 qualified men and women preachers to give religious advice to people.
There are more than 90,000 mosques all over Saudi Arabia and at least 15,000 of them hold Friday congregations. The total number of mosque imams in the country exceeds 86,000, the ministry said.
