Okaz/Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH —
Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council Sheikh Dr. Waleed Bin Muhammad Al-Samaani has issued directives to launch the e-marriage contract service.

The service, which will help electronically document marriage data and finalize marriage contract from home, will ease the process of registering marriages.

Bride and groom data can be entered in the Ministry of Justice e-gate to get an appointment with a marriage official (Ma’zoun) to officiate the marriage.

He will also verify the fingerprints electronically via a smart device. Then an electronic copy of the marriage contract will be endorsed without the need to refer to the marriage register. There will be no need for beneficiaries to visit courts and related authorities.

However, a paper copy of the marriage contract can be kept for those who wish to do so. They can print a copy from the ‘Najiz’ gate of the ministry.

The pertinent government authorities will be able to read the information in the marriage contract electronically via the GSB channel, an affiliate of government e-transactions program (Yusr).

This comes within the digital transformation endeavor by the Ministry of Justice and a new step in its goal to transform 80 percent of its services to e-services by 2020.
