JEDDAH — King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) President Tony F. Chan honored prominent media figure Ali Makki at a ceremony held at the office of Chan in the university premises in Thuwal on Thursday.

Makki, who is currently serving as Saudi media specialist at KAUST, is also a columnist for Okaz daily.

Makki was honored in recognition of his outstanding contributions.

This was part of the university’s program to honor those staff members who have been rendering great service to the university ever since its foundation 10 years ago.

Makki thanked Chan for his keenness in supporting his staff members and honoring them.

Makki, who has vast experience of 30 years in the media field, has served in various capacities at KAUST.

He said the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 spearheaded by Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, has placed special focus on science and technology so as to diversify the nation’s economy and create successful opportunities.
