King emphasizes cohesion of Islamic Ummah

MAKKAH - Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman underscored the need for the cohesion of the Islamic Ummah with overcoming the dangers of sectarianism and divisiveness. He made the remarks during an audience with eminent Islamic scholars from all over the world at Al-Safa Palace in Makkah on Wednesday night. They came to attend the four-day international conference, with the theme of “Values of moderation in the texts of the Qur’an and Sunnah,” organized by the Muslim World League (MWL). During the reception, the Monarch received a copy of the “Makkah Document,” adopted by the conference.

Addressing the scholars, King Salman expressed his pleasure that the scholars of the Muslim Ummah are united in their views on important issues, especially with regard to confronting the ideas of extremism and terrorism. The King highlighted Islam's approach based on moderation and Muslim Ummah's position as a moderate society. The Monarch also noted that serving the Two Holy Mosques is a great honor for the Kingdom, its rulers and people.
