RIYADH —
Saudi Arabia on Tuesday reiterated its firm stance on finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis in line with the United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 2254.

Addressing the UN Human Rights Council meeting in Geneva on the latest developments in Syria, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, the Kingdom's representative to the United Nations office in Geneva, said indiscriminate bombing and attacks on innocent civilians are a flagrant violation of all relevant international laws and norms, causing a humanitarian disaster.

The bombing caused mass displacement of more than 1 million Syrians, including men, women and children.

Al-Wasel stressed the importance of the safe return of refugees to their country to live in dignified conditions, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Al-Wasel noted that the Brussels conference, held in March this year, renewed the position of the international community in support of a political process led by the United Nations for the future of Syria, and the establishment of a unified and secure state for all Syrian citizens.

In a related development, the Kingdom’s delegation to the United Nations office in Geneva welcomed the Head of the International Commission of Inquiry in Syria Paulo Pinheiro and his team, and thanked them for the information they presented during Tuesday’s meeting.
