JEDDAH —
Some 150 employees of the General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection have approached the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture alleging that 15 staff members of the authority received two exceptional promotions through favoritism.

They said those promoted were working at the offices of the president, his deputy and the HR director.

The complainants said the committee constituted by the minister to enumerate outstanding employees was not fair.

They said there was no clear-cut parameter for the promotions except the closeness with the president, his deputy, HR director and members of the committee.

The employees said the promoted staff members consisted of six from the office of the committee's chairman, seven from the office of the deputy president and two from the office of the HR director.

Hussain Al-Qahtani, spokesman of the authority, said there were no promotions made so far but asked to be given time to investigate the complaint.
