Saudi forces free 81 Africans from the grip of Houthi human trafficking ring

August 03, 2019

RIYADH — An official source of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen said that in a qualitative operation, Saudi forces succeeded in saving 81 Africans in the Al-Thabit market, which was used by Houthi militias backed by Iran.

The freed Africans, including 20 women and two children, were being held in a basement at Al Thabit market by Houthi militia forces, who forced them to fight alongside them, dig trenches and transport weapons.

The quality operation was accompanied by an emergency relief campaign launched by the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action.

The freed Africans were relocated to a shelter and emergency treatment center, where most of them were found to be suffering from hunger and the ill effects of inhumane detention conditions. -SPA
