3,000 volunteers drafted in to help Haj pilgrims

MAKKAH — The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has roped in more than 3,000 volunteers through its initiative “Be in Assistant”, which is part of the ministry’s social responsibility programs, to assist pilgrims.

According to the ministry’s plan, 747 volunteers will be stationed at entry points, 500 volunteers in holy sites, 456 volunteers in the Two Holy Mosques and 136 volunteers in Meeqat Al-Juhfah in addition to many other locations where the need to serve pilgrims is felt.

Out of 3,000, 1896 volunteers are drawn from the west of the Kingdom, 648 volunteers are from the central region, 244 volunteers are from the south, 208 volunteers are from the east and 64 volunteers from the north. They will provide assistance to pilgrims at entry points, on the roads in addition to Makkah, Madinah and the holy

sites, the ministry has outlined.

The ministry has also pointed out that “Be in Assistant” electronic platform will enable youth from all over the Kingdom to apply and volunteer to serve the pilgrims.

The ministry will be provided housing and food during their work and special transportation from their accommodation to the holy sites will also be available.

Two buildings that are fully equipped will receive the volunteers in Al-Aziziya area. The work is still underway to carryout the “Haj in Languages” initiative.

“Be in Assistant” platform is an initiative launched by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, which is specialized in caring for pilgrims from the day they arrive in the Kingdom until they leave. A special team that is well-trained will be providing them with assistant. — SG
