JEDDAH — Saudi Deputy Minister of Defense Prince Khalid Bin Salman stressed that the Kingdom’s support to the legitimate government and Yemen’s unity and stability “remains unchanged”.

“What is happening in Aden is giving an opportunity to those who are trained by the militias and terrorist organizations, especially the Houthis, Al-Qaeda and ISIS,” Prince Khalid Bin Salman tweeted early Sunday.

“We reject any use of arms in Aden which disrupts the security and stability. We call for restraint and the wisdom to prioritize the interest of the Yemeni state. The Kingdom is calling for a political dialogue with the legitimate Yemeni government to take place in Jeddah,” The Deputy Minister of Defense said in his tweet.

Prince Khalid Bin Salman added: “It is the Kingdom’s duty to support and preserve the legitimacy in Yemen and provide all the means of support to the brotherly Yemeni people. The developments in Aden have disrupted the humanitarian and relief works, which is a matter the Kingdom will not accept.”

He drew attention to the fact that the international community has backed Saudi stance with regard to the developments in Aden.

Meanwhile, Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir reaffirmed the Kingdom's support to the legitimate Yemeni government, and the interim capital, against any action that may disrupt the security and stability of Yemen, and create opportunities for terrorists to exploit.

“We call on all Yemeni parties in Aden to respond to the Kingdom's immediate call for dialogue in Jeddah, put an end to the violence, unite ranks, and avoid dragging Yemen into further chaos”, he said in a tweet on early Sunday.

“The Kingdom will always be the greatest supporter of the brotherly Yemeni people, and will do everything in its power to return peace and stability to Yemen”, he added.

“We call on all Yemeni parties in Aden to respond to the Kingdom’s immediate call for dialogue in Jeddah, put an end to the violence, unite ranks, and avoid dragging Yemen into further chaos, Al-Jubeir tweeted.

He added “We reaffirm the Kingdom’s support to the legitimate Yemeni government, and the interim capital, against any action that may disrupt the security and stability of Yemen and create opportunities for terrorists to exploit.
