RIYADH —
Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Supreme Judiciary Council Sheikh Waleed Al-Samaani has launched the second phase of implementing hearings before the appellate courts. The minister issued a judicial circular in this regard and that was based on the decision of the Supreme Judiciary Council, clarifying that 31 types of cases will be included in the second phase. These cases will be examined, either through pleading or scrutiny, by the circuits dealing with cases of human rights, labor, criminal and personal status in the courts of appeal.

It is noteworthy that the minister of justice announced earlier the success of the first phase of implementing hearings before the appellate courts. He thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman for their continuous support to the judiciary, saying that this enabled the judiciary to achieve progress and growth in all sectors of services being extended to both the litigants and beneficiaries. “This success highlights the robust judicial infrastructure and highly qualified staff, who are always keen on achieving the public interest,” the minister said while emphasizing that reasoning is the key to judicial review rather than details of the case.
