MOSCOW – Several Saudi students and experts will be participating in the World Skills Competition, which will kick off in Kazan in Russia on Thursday.

Hundreds of talented students and experts representing 75 countries from around the world will showcase their creative skills in aircraft maintenance and welding skills in the five-day event.

Dr. Fahad Al-Tuwaijri, CEO of Colleges of Excellence, which is the supervising authority of international technical colleges and strategic partnership institutes across the Kingdom, said that this international competition is held every two years.

Participants in the event compete for 56 skills in industrial and service professions with the highest international standards to market technical and vocational training. It also aims to educate community members about the impact that training can have on the public and personal level.

Al-Tuwaijri said the competition aims to spread the importance of technical skill and encourage young people to acquire and discover their skills and encourage them to develop their innovative skills and creativity. It also enable them to find opportunities for cooperation between the contestants and different sectors.

He said that the winners of the competitions held at the international technical colleges and strategic partnership institutes are qualified to attend the global competition and they are: Idris Abduljalil Al-Hajji, Hassan Hussein Al-Rashed, Ibrahim Khaled Yamani and Ghazi Mohammed Al-Mustaneer.
