DAMMAM –
The Department of Friendly Settlement at the Labor Office in Al-Khobar in the Eastern Province has settled the claims of 134 expatriates worth a total of more than SR5.7 million during the first week after the Eid Al-Adha holidays. Investigators settled labor claims after achieving reconciliation among both the parties.

Most of these expatriates are Indian nationals, in addition to nationals from Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, of which Indians received the largest amount of over SR4.5 million. It is worth mentioning that all these expatriates were workers of an establishment that failed to make payment of its employees’ dues due to several reasons.

Director of the Labor Office in Khobar Governorate Mansour Al-Bin Ali said that the Department of Friendly Settlement and the Labor Office are keen to end all labor issues as soon as possible, in line with the instructions of Director General of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development Abdulrahman Al-Muqbel.

According to the new mechanism announced by the Ministry of Justice last year, Labor offices across the Kingdom will have a period of 21 days to amicably settle labor disputes. If no settlement is reached in 21 days, then labor offices should electronically submit the case to labor courts.
