RIYADH — Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance Dr. Abdullateef Bin Abdulaziz Al-Asheikh on Monday directed imams of all mosques in the Kingdom to make “human trafficking is a sinful, forbidden act”, main theme of their sermons on the forthcoming Friday, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
He added that human trafficking appears in several forms including “forced labor” and “delaying payment of workers’ rights”.
Dr. Al-Asheikh urged the imams of mosques to highlight this matter from the perspective of the Shariah, instill the Islamic values and principles, mention the religious edicts (fatawa) issued by the Council of Senior Scholars in Saudi Arabia, explaining the intentions of the Shariah in this regard.
The minister’s directives to the imams and khateebs of mosques comes within the ministry’s endeavor and effective role to contribute to spreading awareness on the Shariah, and enlightening people on religious and worldly matters. This is due to the importance of the Friday sermon in guiding people on some issues that they ought to be alerted and reminded on.
