JEDDAH – The Council of Ministers on Tuesday reaffirmed the Kingdom’s position that the international community must exert maximum pressure on Iran to end the regime’s terrorist and aggressive behavior causing destruction to the world.

Minister of Media Turki Al-Shabanah said, in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session, that the Cabinet stressed the contents of the Kingdom’s speech at the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, citing its call on the international community to take a unified and solid position to exert maximum pressure to end the terrorist and aggressive conduct of the Iranian regime after it became known only for bombing, destruction and killing in the entire world for 40 years.

The minister said the Cabinet appreciated the position of several countries condemning and denouncing the sabotage attacks on two Saudi Aramco oil plants in Abqaiq and Khurais, considering them as a serious threat to the regional and international security as well as to the security of global energy supplies.

The Council also highlighted the Kingdom’s support for all the measures taken by the government to enhance security and stability as well as to confront any aggression.

Al-Shabanah said the Cabinet affirmed that the Kingdom’s announcement to complete the payment of its pledge, announced this year at the Yemen donors conference at the UN, amounting to $500 million, and the generous donation of $50 million extended to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), $10 million for the Rohingya, and $3 million in support of the work plan, activities and programs of the UN Alliance of Civilizations for the next three years, are an extension of the Kingdom’s commitment to its humanitarian principles and an affirmation of its support for the stability of the peoples facing tragedies.

The minister said the Cabinet welcomed the establishment of the Constitutional Committee in Syria, stressing that the Kingdom supports the political ways to end the Syrian crisis, based on UN Security Council Resolution No. 2254 to preserve the territorial integrity of Syria.

The Cabinet also hailed the joint statement issued by the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, United States of America, Britain, France, Germany, Egypt and Jordan on the sidelines of the session of the UN General Assembly, which stressed zero tolerance for the use of chemical weapons in Syria, and that all parties should comply with the rules of the international law and hold accountable all perpetrators of human rights violations in Syria.

The Cabinet reiterated the Kingdom’s solidarity and support for the efforts of Egypt in its war on terrorism, the latest one was the measures taken by the Egyptian armed forces and police in northern Sinai. The Cabinet offered condolences to the families of the victims and the government and people of Egypt, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

The Cabinet considered the opening of the new terminal of King Abdulaziz International Airport by King Salman as an extension of the civilizational development being witnessed by the Kingdom and giant projects implemented to serve citizens, expatriates, as well as pilgrims and visitors, saying that this will contribute to attract 30 million Umrah performers annually to achieve one of the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
