RIYADH — King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) in cooperation with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is organizing a forum to acquaint researchers with the Ibn Khaldoun Fellowship Program for Saudi women researchers, who are doctorate degree holders, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.

The forum is being held at King Abdullah University for Science and Technology (KAUST), Jeddah University, Imam Abdulrahman Al-Faisal University and King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) in Riyadh.

The program aims to support Saudi female researchers and grant them the opportunity to conduct their research in scientific specializations under supervision of MIT teaching staff, apart from enhancing the scientific research environment in Saudi universities, setting up a base of Saudi female researchers by providing them with research skills so that they can be among the future leaders in technology.

The forum will review the previous experiences of the program and evaluate them and the fellowship journey that begins with selecting the candidates until the beginning of studies.

From the very start, the program has been supported with 32 Saudi women doctorate degree holders. They have been able to publish about 50 researches in scientific conferences and journals. Several of them have registered their patent rights.

The program is the result of an agreement signed between KACST and MIT. — SPA
