King Khalid 2019 awards distributed

RIYADH —
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman on Monday distributed King Khalid Foundation awards for 2019 among nine winners during a function organized here by the board of trustees of the foundation.

The awards covered three branches which were: development partners, distinction of the non-profitable organizations and sustainability.

The King handed over the first prize in the branch of "development partners" to Wateen Initiative. Founder of the initiative, Tamim Mohammed Al-Ghannam, received the award. Ehya (survival) initiative won the second prize which was received by Adhwa Khaled Al-Shamasi while "my Saudi bicycle" initiative won the third prize which was received by Abdullah Ali Al-Wathlan.

In the branch of the distinction of non-profitable organizations, fiirst prize went to the family development charity organization in Madinah. The award was received by the imam of the Prophet's Mosque Abdul Bari Bin Awwad Al-Thibaiti; the second prize was won by Al-Oula Women Welfare Society and the prize was received by Hala Al-Shaer. The third prize was won by Zahra Society for Breast Cancer and was received by Dr. Suad Bin Amir.

In the branch of sustainability, the Saudi Aramco-Yanbu refinery won the first award which was received by Amin Hassan Al-Nasser, the second place went to Tata company for consultative services. Dr. Amal Bint Jameel Fatani.

The third award for sustainability was won by the Desert International Company for Petrochemicals (Sipchem). Khaled Abdullah Al-Zamil received the prize.

Chairman of the foundation, Prince Faisal Bin Khalid gave King Salman a memorial gift on the occasion.

He said since its inception, the foundation has been making efforts to remedy some social ills and enable society members to play key economic and social roles.

"This can not be achieved without investing in the non-profitable sector," he added.

The prince said the three branches of the award are aimed at honoring the individuals, organizations and initiatives which are endeavoring to find permanent solutions to the societal challenges.
