Riyadh int'l forum to discuss security and safety of sea lanes

RIYADH — The Saudi Royal Naval Forces will organize on Nov. 24-26 here the Saudi International Maritime Forum for Sea Patrol Ships under the theme "Importance of Securing Strategic Sea lanes".

The international forum is being held under the aegis of Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense.

Casting light on the event, Chairman of the Forum's Committee Commodore Faisal Bin Mohammed Al-Ghamisi said the forum is set to discuss ways to guarantee the security and safety of sea lanes due to the strategic roles of sea outlets in our region for the world's exports and imports, citing the Suez canal, Bab Al-Mandab and Strait of Hormuz as important passages for the international traffic, trade and economy.

Al-Ghamisi pointed to the role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the regional and international levels to contribute to the maintenance of international peace and security, consistent with achieving the vision of the Ministry of Defense.

He said the forum also aims to strengthen the ties between the Saudi navy and its counterparts in the sisterly and friendly countries. — SPA
