OKAZ unveils new identity on Dec. 16

December 14, 2019

JEDDAH — In a new qualitative leap, ‘Okaz’ daily will launch on Monday, Dec. 16, 2019, with a new identity, in a big ceremony sponsored by the chairman of the General Entertainment Authority Turki Al-Sheikh.

The ceremony, which takes place at Abu Bakr Salem Theater in Riyadh Boulevard at 7:30 p.m., will witness a number of surprises in the presence of the Minister of Media Turki Al-Shabana and a number of officials, ambassadors and prominent figures in the media, cultural and economic fields.

Continuing on its path of digital evolution, Okaz announced a desktop update with a new look and feel, optimized web pages, and competitive page load-speed.

Okaz Editor in Chief Jameel Al-Theyabi said that this pioneering project would not have seen the light without the great support and daily follow-up by Okaz Chairman Sheikh Abdullah Saleh Kamel.

Al-Theyabi revealed that the idea of development stemmed from Okaz’s keenness to open new horizons in light of the development of digital communication.

“The media has played a fundamental role in raising the public’s interest in daily issues and events, because it is considered a major source for the public to obtain information on all political, current, cultural and social issues.”

Al-Theyabi said that new Okaz will be revealed to the readers starting from Tuesday, Dec. 17.

“The new identity focuses on new technologies and applications in parallel with the print version, in addition to its multiple platforms in Social Media,” he said.

Al-Theyabi pointed out that the new development was not limited to changing the newspaper's visual identity, but extended to the printed, audio and visual content.

“The editorial policy is consistent with changing patterns of readers’ interests,” he said. — SG
