There were 284 public hospitals at the end of last year

There were 284 government hospitals distributed all over the country at the end of 2018, local daily Al-Watan reported on Tuesday quoting a statistical report by the ministry of health.

The ministry, however, said as many as 119 of these hospitals, representing 42 percent, were in hospitals whose capacity did not exceed 50 beds.

It said the hospitals with a capacity of between 51-100 beds were 48 while those with a capacity of 101-200 beds were 53.

There were 29 hospitals with a capacity of 201-300 beds and nine hospitals with a capacity of 301-400 beds.

According to the ministry, there were 20 government hospitals in Asir, 21 in Jazan, seven in Bisha, 10 in Najran, 10 in Al-Baha, 49 in Riyadh, 10 in Makkah, 10 in the Northern Borders Province, 20 in the Eastern Province and 13 in Jeddah.

There were two hospitals in Riyadh with a capacity of 500 beds or more and one each in Jeddah and the Eastern Province with this capacity.
