National Children’s Day of Thailand

January 13, 2020

JEDDAH - The Royal Thai Consulate General in Jeddah, in cooperation with the Thai community in the western region of Saudi Arabia, organized the 2020 National Children’s Day at the Consulate’s premises on Saturday, 11 January 2020. Approximately 400 Thais including parents and children living in Jeddah and Makkah participated in the event.

Thai Consul General Soradjak Puranasamriddhi welcomed the children and their parents and declared the opening of the event.

Several games and activities were arranged for children to play and demonstrate their talents. The children also exchanged gifts with each other and enjoyed the food and drink prepared by the Consulate and members of the Thai community.

In Thailand, National Children’s Day is held on the second Saturday of January every year. It’s Thailand’s annual event to acknowledge the rights of children. Parliament and Government House are open for children to visit on this day. Other governmental units such as ministries and military units as well as companies and private sectors are open for children to visit and learn about their activities.

The 2020 Children's Day motto, given by the Prime Minister of Thailand General Prayut Chan-o-cha, is: "Modern Thai children must uphold unity and be aware of civic duties.”
