'Alif @10 Eventia' held in gusto and grandeur

RIYADH — Alif International School Riyadh recently celebrated its 10 years of excellence in a colorful event titled “Alif @10 Eventia” at the Riyadh Nesto Aziziya auditorium.

Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the Kingdom Azmi Tassim inaugurated the grand finale of the month-long events and programs marking the 10th anniversary of the school. The ambassador appreciated the students and teachers of the school for their curricular and co-curricular activities, especially for their humanitarian work, which finds a significant place in the school curriculum. He recalled the visit of students and teachers of the school to the Sri Lankan embassy to offer their condolences and express their solidarity when his island nation was struck with devastating bomb blasts that claimed the lives of hundreds of people in April 2019.

The Alif @ 10 Eventia was celebrated with 10 different events and programs. The first program “Teens Media Talk” was inaugurated by Siraj Wahab, managing editor of Arab News. “Beget the Future Leaders” was the second event that was attended by 40 prominent social workers and community leaders. The program was instrumental in instilling passion for social work among the students. Mothers meet, public quiz competition and an alumni meet were also organized to mark the anniversary.

At the grand finale, staff members with over 10 years of service, were honored.

The Sri Lankan ambassador handed over the charity fund collected by the students to the famous social worker Shihab Kottukad. The money will be sent to the Institute of Palliative Medicine, an India-based NGO, dedicated to provide with palliative care for the terminally ill patients. Free educational scholarship to 10 deserving students was another highlight of the initiatives, launched by the school authorities.

The document of consent for this was presented to the school Principal Muhammed Musthafa by Ali Kunji Moulavi, chairman of Alif Group of Schools, Luqman Pazhur, executive director of Alif Group of Schools, and Nassar Haji, director of the group.

Prizes for the winners of Islamic Quiz Competition and Public Quiz were also distributed. All teachers and staff members of the school were honored on the occasion. Alif Global School at Markaz Knowledge City, Kerala was introduced to the public through a video presentation at the event.

Several prominent figures attended the concluding event. They included Mohammed Al Kahthani, Niyas Ahmed, Mohammed Ahmed, Sheeshan Quasi, Waqar Nasim Wamik, Shamnad Karunagappally, Ubaid Edavanna, Dr. Mukundan, Shamsheera, TP Abdul Kareem, Mujeeb Rahman Kaladi, Abdushukoor Madakkara and Mohammed Rafeeq Malayil. The colorful cultural events and artistic performances of the students mesmerized the audience.

Dr. Daisamma Jacob, vice principal, Mohammed Noushad, head master, Hameeda Banu, head mistress, Ali Bhukhari, administrative officer, and Shameer were among the organizers of the event.
