KSRelief implements 1,130 projects worth $4.268bn

RIYADH —
King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) has implemented 1,130 humanitarian projects in various parts of the world, costing a total of $4.268 billion. The projects were implemented in cooperation with 144 local, regional and international partners during the period since the inception of the center in May 2015 until December 2019.

Yemen comes top in the list of beneficiary countries, with a 68.57 percent stake of the total projects. It is followed by Palestine with 8.34 percent of projects, Syria (6.69 percent) and Somalia (4.32 percent).

In Yemen, KSRelief has implemented 405 projects worth $2.92 billion in cooperation with 80 partners. These projects include 183 in the health sector; 70 in the food security sector; 25 in the field of support and coordination of humanitarian operations; 21 in early recovery; 23 in the water and environmental sanitation; 20 in the field of shelter; 19 in protection; 15 in the educational sector; 7 in logistics services; 5 in nutrition and one project in emergency communications, in addition to 16 projects in other sectors.

In Palestine, the KSRelief has implemented 83 projects for the poor and needy with a total value of $355.87 million, and that is in cooperation with 17 partners. These include 18 projects in the health sector; 31 in food security; 11 in accommodation; 11 in the education sector; two each in logistics, water and environmental sanitation, and early recovery; one project each in protection, support and coordination of humanitarian operations, and 4 projects in other sectors.

The center also carried out in Syria 206 projects worth $285.5 million and that was in cooperation with 40 partners. These include 77 projects in the food security sector; 52 projects in the shelter sector; 33 in health sector; 11 in education, and 4 each in philanthropy, and in protection; 3 projects in the water and environmental sanitation sector; two projects each in early recovery and nutrition sectors; one project each in logistics and in support and coordination of humanitarian operations, as well as 16 projects in other sectors.

KSRelief has implemented 41 projects with a total value of $184.3 million in Somalia and that was in cooperation with 7 partners, which included 23 projects in the field of food security; 7 in the health field; 3 in water and environmental sanitation, and two projects each in the residential and the early recovery sectors; one each in nutrition and in support and coordination of humanitarian operations, in addition to two projects in other sectors.
