GACA approves additional flights to and from Sharurah

RIYADH —
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has approved additional flights to and from Sharurah Airport via the national carrier, Saudi Arabian Airlines, starting March 1. Saudia will be operating two round trip flights to King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and to King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, bringing the total to four flights weekly.

This comes within GACA’s effort to develop airports and increase destinations for different regions of the Kingdom. The aim is connecting the Kingdom with an integrated air network and raising the level of competitiveness and striking a balance between supply and demand in the air transport market.

This comes within GACA’s programs to pushup flights growth in many of the Kingdom’s airports, and in return, put in place the necessary treatments for low-traffic airports to find the needed solutions to raise the growth rate in air and passenger traffic.

Lately, GACA started its efforts with Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Al-Qassim region, Prince Abdulmohsin Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Yanbu, Hail International Airport and Taif International Airport, and today it continues to implement its development efforts at Sharurah Airport.

The GACA is developing an international and domestic airports network to accommodate the demand and the growing increase in the number of travelers in various airports throughout the Kingdom. Its main goal is to build a modern airport system that provides advanced modern services that will provide travelers with high caliber services, and accommodate the growing demand for air traffic in the Kingdom.
