JEDDAH — Qatar reported 88 new coronavirus cases, 11 more recoveries and its second death from the deadly virus on Tuesday, according to a statement by country’s health ministry carried by Qatar News Agency.

With the detection of the new cases, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country stands at 781.

“The Ministry of Public Health announces that it has conducted a scan to detect the coronavirus on 2,291 people today which showed the significant rise in the number of new cases due to the use of new and advanced equipment, which contributed to the faster detection of infected cases and the reduction of virus outbreaks,” the statement read.

New are related to travelers who arrived in Qatar recently and others who have had contact with cases already diagnosed with the virus. All of them have been admitted under complete sanitary isolation, where they receive the necessary medical care, the statement added.

According to the statement, the second coronavirus patient, who died in the last 24 hours, was a 58-year-old male resident who having chronic diseases.

Officials also said 11 more people have recovered, taking the total number of recoveries from the virus in the country to 62.
