KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait recorded 55 new confirmed cases of coronavirus, raising the infection tally in the country to 910, Kuwait News Agency reported on Thursday, quoting a health official.

Out of the new 55 cases, 51 are those who were in contact with previously infected people, spokesman for the Health Ministry Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said during a daily media briefing.

Epidemical investigations are underway in the remaining four cases, Al-Sanad said.

Among the 51 confirmed cases of local transmission, there are four Kuwaitis, 36 Indians, six Bangladeshis, two Pakistanis, one Iranian, one Egyptian, and another Nepali resident, the spokesman added.

There are 22 patients who are staying in intensive care units, comprising eight in critical condition, he further said.

Dr. A- Sanad renewed his call asking people to stay at home and observe a partial curfew in place to help curb the spread of the deadly virus.

Kuwait has recorded one death due to coronavirus so far.
