RIYADH — The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in cooperation with the Ministry of Housing, has decided to exempt a number of categories benefiting from social insurance, orphans and the disabled from payment of their overdue rents for a period of three months, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported Saturday.

These categories of social insurance beneficiaries have been handed over units from the developmental housing project and they had rent arrears owed to the authorities.

This decision is meant to mitigate the economic impacts ensuing from the precautionary measures taken to curb the COVID-19 pandemic and it is in tandem with the ministry’s social responsibility towards this category of citizens.

During the previous years, the Ministry of Housing had handed over the keys to developmental housing units to deserving families and the most needy in the society among social insurance beneficiaries, orphans and the disabled in the majority of cities and governorates of the Kingdom, in cooperation and integration with the national societies.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development had decided earlier to stop updating the medical reports of disabled persons until the end of the coronavirus crisis.

In addition, the ministry has decided not to drop any names from the list of social insurance beneficiaries for this month Sha’ban, while it is going to pay them for the month of Rajab retrospectively.
