RIYADH — Muhammad Al-Nujaidi, spokesman of the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC), said that they have thwarted, in cooperation with their counterparts in Qatar, an attempt to smuggle 4.091.250 amphetamine pills in Riyadh.

The spokesman said that this has also been in coordination with the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) in Jeddah Islamic Ports.

The security follow-up to the drug smuggling and promotion networks targeting the security of Saudi Arabia and its youth resulted in thwarting this huge quantity of amphetamine tablets.

The amphetamine pills have been found hidden inside a consignment of livestock feed, he said.

While confirming that they have arrested those who were receiving this quantity in Riyadh. It turned out that they were 2 persons, one Egyptian and the other Jordanian.

The preliminary legal measures have been taken against the accused, and they have been referred to the Public Prosecution.
