RIYADH — Cars accident rate has increased during the holidays by 15% compared to other days of the year, the Roads General Authority announced.

The Roads General Authority’ announcement came during launching a safety awareness campaign entitled “Safe Vacation” in cooperation with the Ministerial Committee for Traffic Safety, which comes in conjunction with the Eid Al-Fitr holiday.

The Authority has confirmed the importance of adhering to wearing seatbelts, whether for the driver or other passengers.

It has also stressed the necessity of abiding by the speed limit, in addition to not using mobile phones while driving.

Placing children’s chairs in their designated chairs in the vehicle is also important due to its huge impact on their safety, especially if the car was involved in an accident.

Before driving, it is important to make sure to check the tires and the rest of the vehicle’s tools, the Authority said, noting that drivers should get enough sleep if they are going to travel by car.

The Authority warned against driving vehicles during rain or in the event of weather fluctuations, while emphasizing the importance of having all safety tools in the vehicle.
