THE head of the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Haia) Sheikh Abdullatif Al-Asheikh has come under fire by the commission’s old guard. The veterans are in fact members of the Muslim Brotherhood who held the reins of the Haia many years ago.

Through their aggressive behavior, they were able to foster tensions between the Haia and society. They made this organization an enemy to every man and woman in the Kingdom.

When Al-Asheikh was appointed president, he tried to cut the nails of these people to create a cordial relationship with society. He wanted the organization to be friendly to members of society but he soon invited the animosity of the old guard, which left no stone unturned to defame him.

They resorted to all sorts of accusations to mar the integrity of the new president. Al-Asheikh was aware of this and he talked about it openly. He, however, continued his battle against these veterans to make the Haia a lovable organization, not a hateful one.

Our country hosted the Muslim Brotherhood previously but its members reciprocated the government's generosity with ungratefulness. They started spreading their beliefs among individuals, especially the young.

They reached positions that the media was not able to uncover. Their hidden agenda was to control this rich country and use its resources to finance their clandestine agenda.

Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, may his soul rest in peace, was the first to discover the machinations of the Muslim Brotherhood. He told the Kuwaiti daily Al-Siyasa that this group was dangerous not only to Saudi Arabia but to the rest of the Arab World.

When the Muslim Brotherhood came to power in Egypt, many of its members here were overjoyed. They thought their long planning was finally bearing fruit.

However, the recent royal decision to consider the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist group cut them down to size.

The ferocious attacks against Al-Asheikh was an example of what the Muslim Brotherhood could do to get rid of the people who are aware of their secret plans.

We should all join hands to unravel the machinations of the Muslim Brotherhood before its members are able to hold society and its institutions to ransom.
