Of the many accolades in Drake’s career, a solo No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 has never been among them — until today.

On this week’s chart — the first since his album, Views was released —Aubrey’s single “One Dance,” featuring Wizkid and Kyla, crept from No. 2 to the top slot. “One Dance” overtakes Desiigner’s “Panda,” which had just recently ended a lengthy run by Rihanna and Drake’s “Work.” Views is also No. 1 this week, on the Billboard 200, with 1.04 million equivalent album units and a record-setting 245.1 million streams of its songs.

Captain America: Civil War, Marvel’s grand Avenger versus Avenger melee flick, kicked off the 2016 summer movie season by setting a pretty massive box office standard. The film brought home the fifth-largest opening weekend of all time, according to Box Office Mojo, earning an estimated $181.79 million.


Houston cops staged a silent protest against Beyonce’s Formation tour stop in her hometown this past weekend. Local outlet KHOU reports that law enforcement members of the the Coalition for Police and Sheriffs (C.O.P.S.) shone a blue light on the NRG Stadium, which hosted Bey’s Saturday night show (May 7).

Cops say that the protest was in response to the singer’s “Formation” video, where they believed “some of her performances to be anti-police,” according to C.O.P.S. president Tony Ragsdale. Law enforcement is reportedly upset over imagery seen in the “Formation” video, where a New Orleans police car is seen sinking in water.



The Swiss government has honoured late Indian filmmaker Yash Chopra,in whose movie the breath-taking locales of Switzerland featured for decades, with a special statue as a mark of gratitude. The statue was inaugurated on Wednesday. A sculpture made of pure bronze and weighing about 350 kilos presents Yash Chopra in an iconic pose of directing a film, read a statement on yashrajfilms.com.

Celebrities in Philippines called other celebrities to be models of responsible voters to the public. Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla and Robin Padilla were criticized by netizens after photos of them showing their ballots on social media circulated online. The Kapamilya love team are seen in the posts holding their ballots, while Robin showed a photo of hisballot on Instagram.

Director Anirban Guha’s Elixir has been selected for the Cannes Short Film Corner to be held from May 11 to 22, one of the six Bengali shorts making the cut to the prestigious film festival.


Pop superstar Justin Timberlake returned with his first new song in three years, a cheery pop number that will appear on his upcoming movieTrolls. Justin released a video for Can’t Stop the Feeling in which the singer dances across his studio with appearances by other voice actors from the movie including actress Anna Kendrick and fellow pop star Gwen Stefani.

Hallyu North festival brought  K-Pop music to Toronto recently “K-Pop has gotten really big in Canada and they’ve seen that the fan base here in Toronto is getting big. It’s awesome. we have SHINee coming and two weeks from now we have four groups,” said Jonathan Medina, with Toronto Korean Music Group.
