In Focus: Firebeatz

We caught up with the famous Dutch duo who first met each other at the Rock Academy in Tilburg. “In the first few weeks we teamed up to produce some records together and that worked out pretty well.” Their first big hit was ‘Dear New York’. “Because of that track we started touring around the world!
Our biggest track so far was probably the collaboration with Martin Garrix, titled ‘Helicopter’,” the producers told Saudi Gazette.

“Our music always has a signature Firebeatz sound, it can be in different genres but because of our different musical backgrounds you can always hear the Firebeatz edge. And right now, there’s no album production yet, but we are playing our new singles ‘Dat Disco Swindle’ together with Schella and ‘Lullaby together with Chocolate Puma feat. Bishøp a lot!”

Firebeatz were ultimately signed to Spinnin’ Records that helped them surge to new heights.

“After releasing some remixes on Spinnin’ Records we were asked to join the label. Spinnin’ was and is a great label and we developed a good relationship. The social following and reach of Spinnin’ is huge and that really helped us to reach a bigger following!”

Allowed their artisitic freedom, Firebeatz enjoys working on music that is not chained to a style guide.

“We never really follow a particular style, we just intend to make music that we like and that works for our sets! So, for us we haven’t really been influenced by the label - we’ve always received full freedom to do what we want.”

Their influences range from Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx, Chemical Brothers and others.

“Tiësto is our mentor and at the moment Calvin Harris is the biggest producer.”

Their favorite song at the moment is D.O.D - ‘Zipper’

Everyone is talking about ‘Starboy’ The Weeknd featuring Daft Punk. The release of his new video, shows The Weeknd, aka Abel Tesfaye drive his own McLaren P1. “We don’t pray for love, we just pray for cars,” The Weeknd sings.

So was it product placement? Not at all, just pure romance. “It was a great surprise for us to see The Weeknd’s P1 in his new video - doing what it does best on the open road,” John Paolo Canton, McLaren’s director of public relations said. The iTunes preorder reveals his album will have 18 tracks. Watch this space for more.
