Dance music’s romance with Dutch producers is a known affair. Bolier is a new addition to this chemistry. The artist signed by Spinnin’ Records recently released ‘Is This Love’ which was also named Track Of The Day on BBC Radio 1. In a collaboration with LVNDSCAPE, ‘Is This Love’ is Bolier’s official remake of Bob Marley’s iconic track. In an exclusive interview with Saudi Gazette, Bolier talks about his new release, love for music and what “means the world” to him. “I just got back from Turkey and coming weekend I am performing in New York City. My goals basically are to take my music to the next level all the time - idea wise, production wise but also performance wise, to reach as many people as possible,” he said.

Your Story

Hey there! I am a DJ and producer from the Netherlands - I think mostly known for signature melodies and vibes in dance music songs that both have club and radio crossover appeal. I have been in the business for several years now but only recently decided to make my songs more accessible for a bigger audience, resulting in a string of releases through Spinnin’ Records mainly. Also recently I did an official collaboration with Bob Marley together with LVNDSCAPE called ‘Is This Love’ which is doing very well at the moment!

Inspiration

Mainly: other music! I love to get inspired by other people’s creativity - listening to something amazing and thinking, that’s SO great he or she came up with that particular song! There’s a lot of music that sparked what I am doing right now, this ranges from classical music by Chopin to for example Radiohead, to anything dance out there.

Latest and upcoming releases

I think both ‘Every Single Piece’ together with Redondo and the Bob Marley- LVNDSCAPE collaboration did the best so far, and right now my next track ‘Ipanema’ is getting big support all over the place. Right now I am not really planning an album, but focusing on creating a lot of new singles for the rest of the year.

Signature Sound

I think people can recognize my music because of the melodies I use, the chord structures - but also because of certain grooves, production techniques or different ways of doing music - whereas others would have chosen another path down the production process, I choose mine. My songs in a way are my babies, so seeing them spread out to a big audience and those tracks being successful means the world to me.

Idols

There are a lot of people I respect a lot in the music industry. This ranges from Timbaland to Beethoven, and right now I am really impressed by the stuff Skrillex and Diplo put out.

Future of EDM

Future wise I think - with a global scene - creating hypes is going to be more and more important, as opposed to following hypes. Coming up with original stuff is key.

Favorite Tune

Right now that’s Lucky Charmes’ ‘Bobotie’.
