JEDDAH - As the art scene across the Kingdom continues to thrive, Saudi artists are carving a niche for themselves in the international world of art, mesmerizing the world with their extraordinary creations. But when a renowned legendary artist decides to display the best artworks of her career, the visual delight reaches an extraordinary level. Hafez Gallery is hosting a week long solo exhibition of Saudi artist Mounirah Mosly, who has made an impactful comeback in Jeddah after almost 4 decades. Aptly titled “On the stairs of color, there are traces of my steps”, Mosly is exhibiting her best artworks which are created with vibrant colors and emotions that are illustrated with astounding beauty.

“This is a rare opportunity for art lovers because this exhibition shows Mosly’s creations from 1968 up to 2015,” Qaswra H. Hafez, owner of Hafez Gallery told Saudi Gazette. “Her works are diverse and she is an extremely courageous artist who takes up bold themes with a humanist approach. In 1968, Mosly became the first artist to introduce a female show in the Kingdom, which she conducted jointly in Jeddah, before moving to conduct solo art shows in Riyadh and the Eastern Province.”

Born in Makkah, Mosly studied in Cairo and then went to the United States to pursue art studies there. Throughout her career, Mosly has expressed patriotism through her art and illustrated the sufferings of people in the Arab world. For instance, many of her artworks reflect the sufferings of the children of Iraq, one of the oldest civilizations in the world, with its history of great achievements and contributions to the Islamic world. Over the last 25 years, Mounirah has actively pursued her artistic endeavors creating a unique collection and a versatile body of artistic and literary works.

Hafez Gallery is hosting this solo exhibition as a part of the ongoing 21,39 art activities in Jeddah. “This is a very important event in the world of art, which promotes beauty, tolerance, culture and attempts to build bridges through art with the rest of the world,” said Hafez.
