Maldives_ Billions of people celebrated the Earth day through cleaning the environment, recycling the garbage, or planting trees.

JA Manafaru, one of the biggest resorts in Maldives participated with its guests the Earth Day by planting around 150 in its two properties Manafaru and Govvaafushi islands.  All the participants from the guests and the resort employees wore white T-shirts written on it Earth Day,2016. For many guests this was their first time in such an activity and they were very enthusiastic.
 
 Human Resource Manager, Ahmed Mahatheer, who where participant in the planting experience, stressed on the importance of planting. He mentioned that every year they encourage the resorts guests to be part of the planting trip and plant Coconut trees since they live for long period without the need of daily water.

He explained that the country is focusing on the environment because Maldives is a small country, so protecting the environment and the islands lives is very vital.

“It’s very important. Save our lives and save our future,” he added.
Niven, one of the Arab guests who planted a Coconut tree said, “I am very happy that I planted a tree. We do not do this activity everyday and having such activity is necessary  to enhance the awareness of people about protecting the environment.” 

Another guest mentioned that being part of this trip motivated her, especially that she is returning a gift to the environment.
