Out of all the best surprises London has to offer- Hotel Cafe Royal is one you cannot afford to miss.

Deep rooted in history, the hotel’s legacy speaks for itself even today.

The story began in 1863, when Daniel Nicholas Thévenon, a French merchant and his wife Celestine escaped to England from Paris. Celestine reportedly invested in the course with the savings she had put aside. Many say the hotel’s motif is a creation of Nicholas and his son based on political witticism. But before it became this exceptional five star hotel, it was a restaurant and meeting place where the French brought unfamiliar and fascinating flavors to the English palette.

The name soon became a force to reckon with when fate decided to change its course. Hotel Café Royal was far from ordinary.

For instance, there was nothing regular about the regulars at the hotel, from legends like Oscar Wilde, Muhammad Ali, Winston Churchill, Virginia Woolf, D. H. Lawrence, George Bernard Shaw, Elizabeth Taylor and Bowie, among many others; the hotel was the chosen home for legends.  Some of the 21st century celebrities who have been a part of the new prestige are Rihanna, Naomi, Kanye West, Frank Ocean,  Lewis Hamilton and many more.

Stars regularly walked in and out of the landmark hotel, while guests today hope to follow in their footsteps and cross paths with their icons to relive those extraordinary moments in history. Take for instance the Oscar Wilde setting that serves the most authentic and compelling afternoon tea.  Take a moment and let that sink in next time you visit.

But much like London, Hotel Cafe Royal may have a similar illusion.  London is a big fan of membership-only places that sometimes may not even look like they deserve that privilege, even though more often than not, that comprehension changes once you get inside and see what the big deal is about. Hotel Cafe Royal does the same. Tucked away on Regent Street, the hotel is a gem waiting to be discovered. It is the place everyone wishes they could keep secret. The penthouses are awe-inspiring and the suites are great for a Saudi family vacation.

Hotel Cafe Royal pride themselves in having Mayfair to the west and creative Soho to the East, as the hotel is positioned within walking distance of some of the best shopping streets, tourist attractions and theatreland.

It has 160 guestrooms and suites including seven signature suites that have been created in a contemporary yet sophisticated style.  Just like the hotel’s understated entrance, you may be fooled into believing otherwise but rest assured, everything from their pool, spa and guest rooms are remarkably large and perhaps the biggest in the city. Definitely a plus for Arabs traveling alone or with families.

Their one bedroom suite is 66 square meter with a separate living, dressing and bedroom area.

In fact the Carrara marble bathrooms alone are as big as some of the other luxury hotel rooms in London. From carved walls to bathtubs, the spa like interiors are meticulously designed to create a plush yet tranquil experience.

The only glitch was part of room service and their misplaced sense of privacy. But even that was handled with sincere apologies.

Overall, the hotel offers a great selection of restaurants and a holistic wellbeing concept, Akasha. This is the only hotel spa in London to offer treatments in the Watsu pool or private Hammam, an Arab requisite.
