When the video clip of a Saudi man beating his children with a stick appeared on social media and was widely viewed and commented on, many companies announced that they had given gifts to the children. Then, shockingly, the man himself appeared in a video saying that no company had contacted him or given his children anything. It was all a lie.

Another video clip recently appeared on social media showing a father slapping his young son just because the boy was wearing a green t-shirt in support of the Al-Ahli football team. The father slapped the boy hard on the face while the boy looked at him. The boy did not cry. Apparently, the father was trying to get a gift for what he did. This time, the president of a soccer club announced that he would give a financial reward to the little boy who appeared in the video wearing the Al-Ahli t-shirt. This gift will most likely end up in his father’s pocket.

I strongly believe that this gift will encourage other crazy fathers to follow suit and film themselves hitting their children to get money or gifts. It seems that anyone who wants to be famous and receive a lot of gifts should beat his children really hard while capturing everything on video and then posting the clip on social media websites. This reflects the ignorance of some members of our society.

We have to be more responsible than this and act like adults. Local companies should not announce gifts or money for people who appear in such videos. We must all work together to criticize such videos and behavior, and call on the authorities to punish fathers who beat their children mercilessly just to be famous.
