ECONOMIC crises occur in all countries of the world. No country has escaped crises in spite of its economic strength and international reputation.

Economic recovery of a country and its progress depend on how successfully it deals with the crisis. It is the level of public awareness about the reality of the economic situation rather than dependence on the media as a trust worthy informer that helps people to overcome crises. The media often tries to score scoops by focusing on negative aspects.

Governments should take part of the blame for doing nothing to enhance public awareness on how to deal with a crisis and for not providing correct information and analyses of the situation and its ramifications, and how it is going to steer the country through the crisis.

There are passengers on board who believe the vehicle should go to the right side while others who want to see it go left. We can also find people who want to jump out of the vehicle.

If a person is terminated from service in a company where he worked several years, dedicating his efforts for its development and he does not know any other work, he will be shocked and will have a feeling of being subjected to gross injustice.

Instead of blaming the company and his plight, such individuals should think about a new job in another place and prospects of starting new ventures. There is no use of just joining the chorus of people who blame the company and its injustice as it would only increase your anger and pain.

This shock treatment teaches you the fact that job security is not real. An individual can derive the feeling of security from his self-confidence and as a result of his strong faith in Allah and His blessings, and not from any material or mundane factor. At the same time, the security factor created by employment often discourages people from improving the quality of work and seeking new pastures.

The termination from service gives you an opportunity to discover your untapped capabilities and update your knowledge and skills and think of starting a new project or venture, which you once thought does not come in your range.

Let me narrate the success story of Abdul Lateef, who lost his job after serving a company for 14 years. He felt sad for losing the job but he realized that God created Earth so vast that there are opportunities for everyone. As a first step, he decided to drive his wife to work.

Abdul Lateef realized that his wife worked far away from home and she and her colleagues faced lots of difficulties to reach work every morning. This simple experience encouraged him to launch a transport company for female workers.

Abdul Lateef is now very happy as he makes good profit out of his new business.

If you are owner of an enterprise and if it is threatened by financial crisis, you should not submit to the general feeling of people around you that this is the end of the world. You should know that most successful and distinguished projects started as a solution at times of crises.

People should be able to see the value of services and products. Companies that provide real services with tangible value will not be affected much during crises while others that offer marginal services with poor quality would be forced to withdraw from the market, incurring heavy losses.

Company owners therefore should focus not only on their turnover but on improving services as well. Customers should be able to feel the real value of a company’s services and this will help the company overcome a crisis successfully. Moreover, people will be interested to become part of that successful company and purchase its shares.

The main responsibility to overcome any crisis falls on your own shoulder as an individual who should be aware of the economic situation and take necessary precautions to secure a decent life. You should educate yourself and learn from experiences and review the situation with a high degree of credibility and above all a high degree of sagacity and prudence.
